of Dance Captain Dance Attack. Today, today, I'm learning steps from the hard rock and roll

on Broadway, the Hewie Lewis Musical, and of course, I gotta bring in this super cool dance captains

from the show, Michael O'Lari Beepi and Learree. I'm ready to get it on the party

Okay, so essentially what has happened is that the entire conference has hopped on this bubble wrap

We love it so much. We've hopped on the bubbled wrap. Because we love it so much

Yeah, we love it so much. This is musical theater. At first we were hesitant to hop on, but then we were like, this is like, well

this is for the parties now. So we hopped on and upstage, Roz is watching us, the Tremika Lawrence, is watching us

She's upstage watching us kind of like, I might need to show these kids how to do this step. Yeah

and she steps into center, center. And the first thing is a call and response

She calls and we respond and we continue with the step. Starting with the left foot, you're going to step forward with the left foot

You're going to clap front of the foot, back, front, back, front, back

So, left foot, front, back, front, back. Again, yeah, six, seven, eight

Front, back, front, back, front. Front. Under. Over. Over. And then we have work. Work

And we say work. You bet we do. We're like work. Work with an knee, okay? Eight. Eight

So talk to me about your role as dance captain, assistant dance captain

where we share the workload. It's such a huge job, right? like you taste the like oh yeah i'm in a broadway show and i will show up at 8 o'clock and do my show to

very very truly a 40 hour work week yes at least talk to me about about how you guys balance that

as a team so because you know the james oh jones they say it's a small house but

getting around to every floor to give out notes is really hard sometimes i'll run the stairs like

four times a day so 10 flights me basically yeah it is so and it's insane

principles are in the basement and then the guys are all the way at the top and here's what you don't know

everyone thinks about Broadway theaters because it is kind of you know the pinnacle of theater on this planet we live on

that they think oh yeah the Broadway spaces must be the nicest or these are very very old buildings and a lot of them

they're squashed between nine other theaters so like if you go play the fox in uh Atlanta yeah you've got dressing rooms on the same floor they go for miles

Here you've got like two for three dressing rooms on each floor, and you have to run up and down the stair tips

I think about wardrobe too in that. Oh, my gosh. But then you've got to do it with the basket. Yes

They walk up with the basket. They walk out with the basket. Our dresses are working hard for the night

They're heroes. Double basqueting. No heroes wear cakes. They may just carry them in baskets

That's right. You know what I mean? Are you both on stage I on stage I a stage You on stage as well Right Okay Okay great Okay great So how often do you actually sit out in the house and actually do notes

Actually, I do almost every single show. Every single show. On two show days, I'll sit one out

Okay. Because I'll run up and I'll, like, run the show for myself and be like

what track am I rusty on? Let me focus on that. Or I'll watch the first act of the first show and then the second act of the second show

I'm usually always there. And our associate choreographer is also in the house

So we kind of tag team what we watch and how we're like fixing the show

And Michael, do you, have you developed, like, an extra set of eyes

Oh, yeah. When you're on stay? Oh, what's that like? I love it

I, like, I feel like I already, like, look at the show through that lens anyway

So when I joined the team, I was like, oh, this is going to be a really fun job to kind of get a glimpse at, like

what is the safest for everyone, and what we need to, like, remind ourselves. and I'll make sure I help them like keep eyes on something if like space is a little off. Right

We do with a lot of props in this show. Oh my God, my thing is like, oh yeah. It's just props and boxes and rolling me like department of things that just roll on and off. Yeah

So like I really watch out for things like that and make sure that we're like, hey, okay on the space scene so everyone can be safe

Yeah, I think. And if something goes crazy, he'll text me. Yeah
