Yeah, I played Colonel Cuddly in the Christmas pageants. And I played like, it was

He was like a teddy bear character and he smoked a pipe, but he was a colonel

And he was in this giant toy chest of Christmas toys. And I heard laughter for the first time

And I was like, that's for me. So thank you, Colonel Cudley

Oh, well, this is weird

When did I first find out that I was going to make my debut and who did I tell

So this is kind of a weird one because it was show that was a Broadway show, but that never came in called Paper Moon. Okay. So I get a callback for Paper Moon and I had a line that I had to rehearse and come to the callback with this line. And the line was, well, there you are. I wonder where you're gone to. Where's your paw? Okay. So I get this piece. And I'm working

my butt off trying to make this thing something. So I call my friend Katie Finneran, who was at one point was in my favorite year at Lincoln Center

And she was a Broadway actress. So I was like, you know what you're doing. So I called her and I gave her the line reading She said that great And I said great So I did it I went into the room I so nervous I reading Well there you going I wonder where you going to Where your paw Did it And they were like great got the offer

Broadway show. I got a Broadway show. Oh, my God. So Andrea Burns was my roommate

And I told her because she was good friends with Katie Fiderent

Okay. So the first thought after that was I've got a line in a Broadway show

I could get a Tony nomination for that one line and hey, it could happen

it could happen but so that was my we folded out of town even though the marquee was up at the

Marriott Marquis Theater right over there and my name was on a poster

but we never came in oh gosh my first cast recording What was that

I think it was triumph of love, I think. Yeah, in 1997, 98

I believe that was, I played a jiz, a prince, and I sang a song called Issue in Question And yeah I think that was my first cast recording Oh my first Tony Awards experience was well we could go back to my childhood And I remember being back in 1980

something, and seeing them on television. And I was sitting there with my mom in the living

room in northern Minnesota. And I believe it was the mystery of Edwin Drood

and hearing Cleo Lane sing and watching that entire cast doing that opening like

there you are but there you are I was enraptured and I was like

I want to do that one day I want to be what those people are

and now I can't believe that I'm doing that and I can't believe that I get to

and I'm grateful for every minute of it. Oh, my next Broadway dream

is anything that's new. I love new things. I love creating new things

So, and I always fall in love with the character I'm doing at the time. So anything that's new
