This album is called The Wrong Man and I guess this is how it goes

The wrong man is singing this song, man, the wrong man. The Raw Man was a project that I started in 2005

It started as a song. I decided to go on a journey of explaining who the protagonist is in The Raw Man

How did he get himself in that predicament? And that journey then took me on a 14-year writing escapade

It tells the story of a guy who's wrongly accused of a crime he didn't commit

I never planned on recording it. I loved that it was word of mouth. I love that everybody who wanted to hear it had to hear it in person

I did it in lofts and living rooms, literally from Sydney to New York

but no one ever heard it unless they heard it live. I have a philosophy that when doors are open, you walk through them

So we made an animated film, and from front to finish, it takes you into that world

Getting into South by Southwest and having the animation accepted into Tribeca

Accompanied with a panel with the Innocence Project and Yusef Salam and Nora Jackson, that was a career moment for me

But if I could change anything, I'd do it all the same

Because I've got no regrets, except I wish I left. I excited for people to hear the concept album I recorded the album live Ricky Reed produced it He done everything from 21 Pilots Jason Derulo

The album was recorded by seven Grammy nominated or winning musicians. One of the people who came and saw me perform The Wrong Man in the recording

is a guy named Kurt Deutsch, who runs musical theater for Warner Music Group

And they said, you know, Tommy Kale wants to see it, who directed Hamilton. And Tommy was just going to come by, hear what one song was, see what this was about

Fast forward an hour, he's been saying, play the next song, play the next song, play the next song

By the time we were done, he said, okay, let's do it. It went from that to a cast of eight actors and musicians

to a show opening at MCC Theater October 7th. They brought in Josh Henry

who's a three-time Tony-nominated actor, to play Durant. When you see it, you will be told this story

the same way that I used to tell the story. Just with a lot of lights

I'm a fugitive now. The whole project is really exciting for me

From being in your living room to being in a theater, it's still about telling the story in an organic way

The wrong man has been there for me when I had nothing. So for me to open doors for the wrong man

and let it walk through doors has become my life's work. That's how the story ends
