Hi, I'm Alyssa Maygold
0:03
You probably don't recognize me from our dear drug lord because my hair is no longer green
0:08
And you definitely don't recognize me from the upcoming long-awaited. My God, finally at last Broadway premiere of how I learned to drive
0:18
Because we're doing the right thing, we're staying home. We're staying away from each other
0:22
And we're putting theater on pause. Even though it also feels very counterintuitive in a moment of widespread fear and uncertainty
0:29
and uncertainty to not be able to gather and tell stories. I think that's like one of the most universally human impulses
0:39
And I'm glad that technology means that we can at least do some version of theater, sharing
0:45
and storytelling. And so that's what I'm going to do. I love a show tune as much as the next person
0:54
The only thing I love more is New York, my city, that I have
0:58
that I have lived in through so many ends of the world
1:02
and come out the other side. So this is for New York Also this is a great time if you are able to go check out the Actors Fund and Broadway Cares They are both accepting donations right now to help all of the artists who lost their jobs in the last week
1:23
They provide all kinds of financial support and assistance and programming to artists in need all the time, but are especially mobilized right now
1:31
So if you're in a position to give, those are great organizations to go check out. Okay
1:37
This is pretty yuck. Walking through the crowd, the village is a glow
1:53
Collidescope allowed, heartbeats undercoats. Everybody here wanted something more, searching for a sound we hadn't heard before
2:07
And it said, welcome to New York. It's been waiting for you
2:12
Welcome to New York. Welcome to New York. It a new soundtrack I can dance to this beat beat forever more The lights are so bright But they never blind me Me
2:33
Welcome to New York It's been waiting for you Welcome to New York
2:40
Welcome to New York When we first dropped our bags on a parking floor
2:47
Took our broken hearts, put them in the drawer Everybody here was someone else before
2:55
And you can want who you want Boys and boys and girls and girls
3:01
Welcome to New York It's been waiting for you Welcome to New York
3:07
Welcome to New York It's a new soundtrack I can dance to this beat
3:15
Beed forever more The lights are so bright But they never blind me Me
3:25
Welcome to New York It's been waiting for you Welcome to New York Welcome to New York Like any real love it keeps you guessing Like any true love it ever changing
3:44
Like any real love, it drives you crazy, but you know it wouldn't change anything, anything, anything
3:56
Welcome to New York. It's been waiting for you. New York, welcome to New York
4:05
It's a new soundtrack, I can dance to this beat, meet forever more
4:14
The lights are so bright, but they never blind. Me, me, welcome to New York
4:24
It's been waiting for you. Welcome to New York, welcome to New York
4:31
I can't wait to welcome you all back to New York. I'm back to theater and back to Broadway
4:37
As soon as it is safe for us to do so, take care of yourselves, take care of each other
4:42
stay calm, stress is bad for your immune system, and I will see you at the theater soon
