Hello, Broadway world. My name is Jamie Glickman and welcome back to The Dressing Room
0:09
where we talk about everything at the intersection of theater, style, and beauty
0:14
In today's episode, I'm going to be showing you this look that I did inspired by
0:19
Bridgerton, the show that everyone is talking about. And if you haven't heard about it
0:23
you're probably living under a rock. The show is not only buzzing just because of the Netflix
0:28
series but it's also really popular right now because it is literally being turned into a musical
0:34
right before our very eyes. So this whole Bridgerton musical thing started on TikTok when Abigail
0:40
Barlow posted a song inspired by Bridgerton and after that it just blew up and then she collaborated
0:49
with Emily Bear, another singer, songwriter, composer extraordinaire and the two of them are
0:55
just the dream team. I think it's really amazing that Abigail and Emily are posting live streams
1:01
of them literally writing the music right before your eyes for this musical. You as the audience
1:08
member get to witness this piece of art being created like as it happening That never been done before and I just think it an incredible new way of musical theater writing that I think hopefully will continue to happen
1:22
because it's such an all-inclusive process. So to create this look I drew inspiration from the
1:27
makeup artist that worked on Bridgerton the Netflix series as well as my own research from
1:32
the Regency era makeup and just my natural makeup that I do every day and I kind of just
1:38
blended it all together and this is what you see here. So if you want to see how I created this
1:42
Daphne Bridgerton inspired makeup look, keep on watching. I'm starting off with the Laura Mercier
1:48
Pure Canvas Primer which really helps to create that like natural glow from within kind of thing
1:53
and it's perfect for that no makeup makeup look which is what we're going for today
1:58
and this primer is so hydrating and it just feels so good. Next I'm using the Ilia Skin Tint which
2:05
has such a natural finish and they have 30 shades to match every skin tone which is amazing. In the
2:11
Regency era women used foundation that came as a loose powder and they used it to cover up redness
2:16
or spots so we're basically doing the same thing. Next I'm using a Tarte Shape Tape concealer to
2:23
even out my skin tone more and highlight the parts of my face that I want since we not using actual highlight in this look Tarte Shape Tape is more of a full coverage concealer so you really don need that much to get the effect that you want Now I taking the Laura Mercier
2:38
translucent powder and dabbing it onto my under eyes to make sure that it is super smooth and
2:43
bright and it also helps to avoid creasing and again make the look much more natural and less
2:49
cakey. So Regency women would wear rouge or blush to create a flushed look so to create
2:57
that i'm going to be using the nars liquid blush which has a dewy finish and really looks like
3:02
you're naturally flushed underneath your makeup and we're going to be layering on even more blush
3:06
later on in this look next i'm going to lightly set my face with this laura mercier candle glow
3:11
perfecting powder and a setting spray to just lock everything in place that we just did regency women
3:18
had fairly natural brows with not a lot of plucking going on but the brows were still filled in to
3:23
to look a bit more full but still natural. So I'm using the Anastasia Brow Duo and Brow Freeze to
3:28
fluff and fill in my brows. So now I'm adding another layer of blush to really accentuate that
3:33
flushed look. This is actually the CoverGirl So Flushed Blush, which is perfect for this. I love
3:40
the finish and it very natural Now I using this Ilia eyeshadow palette and taking the middle left shade and swiping it over my lid for a light wash of color and that it and then adding a tiny bit of highlight to my inner corner and brow bone to just add some dimension
3:59
So the lashes were not overly coated on the show they were very natural so I'm doing a
4:03
light coat of the waterproof Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara on my top lashes and waterproof
4:09
Great Lash mascara on the bottom since it has a smaller wand and it's just easier to control
4:14
Next I'm using this Maybelline lipstick in the shade Risky Rose which is the
4:18
perfect shade and finish for this type of look. It's hydrating, it's natural, it
4:22
just adds that pop of color and they have so many different shades for different complexions as well. So I'm just setting my face again to lock
4:29
everything in and now it's on to the hair. So this look is inspired by one of
4:34
Daphne's half up half down look so I'm just pulling my hair back into a small
4:38
ponytail and adding these really funky clip-on bangs which actually look pretty
4:43
natural and I split them in the middle. I'm not sure how I feel about them, but they're definitely
4:48
growing on me. I'm adding this black bow in the back, which I feel like really ties the look
4:52
together. I'm really happy with how this turned out. I'm feeling the Bridgerton fantasy and I hope
4:57
to see it on the stage soon. Thank you so much for watching and I'll see you next time. Bye guys
