Here you are again in the chair. How do you feel today
0:03
I'm really excited. I'm so proud of this show. I'm so proud to be a part of this show
0:08
It's a blast to do. And so to get, this is all icing. I mean, this is major icing
0:14
But you've been down this road before. The Tonys are the pinnacle. I mean, being an actress in general, when were you first aware of the Tonys and what do they mean to you
0:21
Well, I have to say, in all honesty, the pinnacle to me does not necessarily feel like the Tonys
0:26
with all respect to everything. The pinnacle really feels to me the opportunity to be on a stage
0:31
with, right now for me, a thousand people, and you can feel them, and you can affect them
0:38
and they affect you, and there is nothing better than that. And so I get joy every single night, and this stuff is just extra
0:45
This was a quick process for you, a quick rehearsal period. You previewed, you opened, and then the award just started
0:52
I know. It wasn't actually a quick process. We actually had a longer rehearsal period
0:55
They were very generous to us about that. We had a nice and we had a long preview period
0:59
but it was all winding up to then all of a sudden, I think we were the last cutoff date for Tony's season
1:05
And then, yes, it's all coming at you at one time. We're all a little tired. We can use a little rest, but we're all very excited
1:11
Working on this beautiful role in this gorgeous musical, What It Means To You, and this Candor and Ev Joe Masteroff musical I foolishly said no at the beginning when it was offered I know your mouth is agape It true I don know what I was thinking but I did
1:26
And I'm very pleased that the roundabout and everybody involved immediately came back and said, wait, please
1:30
think about it again. And I did. And I talked to Sam. And now I think, oh, what a fool I would have been
1:38
And it's an extraordinary role. And John and Fred, who I've worked with before, this is a joy
1:46
I wish Fred were here, very much so. But John has been wonderful, and Joe Masteroff
1:51
And I get to sing, which I haven't done in a while. So I get to go out there and sing every night, which is just so joyful
1:58
Because I love you. I mean, I fell in love with you in plays, and I was like, oh, my God, I totally forgot you have a school with a singing voice
2:04
Do you miss doing musicals? Would you like to do more of them? I would like to do more of them. I think I recognize where my strengths are as a singer and, frankly, where they're not
2:12
And so there are certain shows that I think I would do better at than others, frankly
2:18
But the actual act of singing, when I, the Broadway, my Broadway debut was 1776
2:23
And Abigail Adams, and I hadn't done that in a while. And the feeling of an orchestra behind you, you really feel like you're flying
2:30
Have you ever done it? You should. It's really great. You feel like you're flying. It's so wonderful. And I have the same feeling here with this
