What's made this so special, working on this film for both of you
0:04
I think two things. I've got the chance to work with people that I'd never imagined that I'd have been able to
0:13
Although actually, we didn't work together, but we're in the same movie, The Good Life
0:17
But to share a screen with Ian, I mean, how many young actors can say that
0:24
And Judi Dench equally. the other thing was just like I was saying
0:29
working with different types of performers dancers, singers they bring something different to the table
0:37
it was a film set unlike one or unlike an acting environment
0:43
that I've experienced before they bring a different level a different type of creativity
0:48
and that's just lovely any actor wants to work with different types of people
0:53
because they enrich your own performances you can draw from stuff and this film had that in abundance
0:59
it's got such a plethora of variety of people that I think
1:05
a colour palette that people will just fall in love with you know the whole of Disney World
1:09
and Universal Studios is all about giving you the audience the experience
1:16
that you are in the film you not we were we were there And she was there dancing Right there He was singing They were all doing it and then they did it again to get it a little bit
1:33
differently. And one was in it. It's such a privilege. And you become like a
1:38
12 year old. Yeah. I think you've gone to heaven. Because I watched looking at
1:43
pictures of you and Dame Judi Dench, just watching all the dancers do all their
1:47
You're amazed. I think viewers will get that because of the live element
1:55
the live singing, the live dancing. You know, sometimes in musicals, because it's pre-recorded
2:02
that element of naturalism is lost and the emotion has gone through a filter
2:09
But because they're seeing, through a lens, the exact performance that was given
2:14
I think that's going to touch them. And like it does when you go and see shows in the West End or on Broadway
2:20
you have that immediate connection with what you're seeing on stage that I think people will fall in love with
2:25
Biggest pinch-me moment for each of you. You have done everything. What was the biggest pinch-me moment for you with working on this film
2:32
Well, it was pretty good when Judy curled up in her cat busket
2:36
still in her green lycra, fitted exactly her form, raised one of her legs right up in there like cats sometimes do And no one had expected that least of all the camera which I think must have wobbled slightly as it recorded
2:56
So what a delight what a compliment at the end of your number that Judy raises her hand like
3:04
Look if I always get that response from audiences, I'll be happy I think the whole thing is, I mean, it's a lot, you know, especially for young actors
3:15
The entire thing is a pinching moment. One that comes to mind, obviously, apart from getting to work with such greats like Ian and
3:23
Judy is I had a ballet lesson and I was sandwiched. My first ever ballet lesson was sandwiched between Robbie Fairchild and Frankie Francesca
3:32
Haywood, two principals of the New York City and Royal Ballet. was quite a surreal moment
3:39
Needless to say, I don't think I held my own. You do, because I
3:43
kept an eye on you. You were more than keeping up. Oh, thank you
3:47
You danced as well as your character should. So not very well
3:53
No, that doesn't matter. Tonight is a magical night where I choose the cat
4:02
that deserves a new life Going to the ball could get dangerous Come on Let dance I judge a cat by its soul
4:25
I've got plenty of soul. Spotlight and a drum roll, please. Milk
4:32
It's party time. The most deserving cat will be reborn into another life
4:43
So they can be who they've always dreamed of being. So! What's your name
4:49
Cat got your tongue? Here we go! Ha ha! Yeah! Ha ha ha
5:02
Don't mess with the crazy cat lady Now it is time
5:14
To make the choice Right, well that's not going to work, is it
5:21
That's what I say to you Cross paws Come, we're about to begin
5:27
I love it
