the Music Box with Broadway World to talk about Dear Evan Hansen. This is the story of a kid

he's a teen and he's like i'm so anxious why does no one understand me and his mom's like i know

it's really hard i'm a registered nurse i'm a single mom i'm really just trying to hold it

all together and um uh sometimes it's really hard have a good day at school he's like okay bye mom

my arm's broken because i fell out of tree because i love trees anyway so he's at school now he's

like oh i forgot about my therapy assignment which is to write a letter to myself dear evan

um you don't totally suck uh okay cool uh print it perfect now i have it for later

in comes the bully hey what up i a bully named connor oh you a kid that i seen sometimes Who me Cast ablaze Uh yeah Well that we never really had a conversation Let start now

Okay, that's super weird. Uh, no one signed your cast? Lame. I guess I'll do it. Sharpie

That's his Connor. My name. The bully. Wow. Okay. Uh, uh, thank you. You're welcome. What's

in the printer no uh are you talking about my sister yikes creep no it's not what it looks like

but i'm too socially anxious to tell you the truth uh that's lame i'm leaving evan's like oh no the

next day at school everyone's like um weird have you seen connor hasn't come to school yet kind of

weird oh we just learned the news he's killed himself oh no hey you kid with cast me that's his

were you friends with him? Yes! Uh oh, so now his parents are like

we the parents and we sad over our son death but you knew him I guess cause we were monitoring his emails Never heard of you Secrets We kept it secrets because we were friends but school doesn understand that

Oh, show us the emails. I'll show you tomorrow. Quick, my nerd friend. What's going on? I can help with tech stuff

Let's sit down and write a bunch of fake emails between me and this kid to prove a correspondence that doesn't actually exist

Okay, I won't ask questions. Bye. Then the parents are like, wow, this is so great

And then the sister, who he has a crush on, is like, I'm..

And he's like, she's so pretty. So then they talk and he's like, what

And she's like, yeah. And then they hang out and they're like dating

Then the parents are like, Evan, we've appreciated you so much. We're going to pay for college

What? But I'm a nerd and I'm poor. It doesn't matter, Evan. You have potential and you were friends with our son

Take this scholarship money I riddled with guilt His mom like this is crazy Why were you being so nice to my son And they like because he was friends with our son He like I lied about everything

Sorry. And they're like, that was bad. He's like, but I'm going to start a charity

Words sometimes fail us. And everyone's like, that's so true. And then they're like

okay, listen, Evan, you did something kind of wrong. You can't go to college

But you can start fresh at the Arboretum for a summer and go next year

But never lie again. And his mom's like, I guess. And the sister's like, you're still kind of cool, I guess

And he's like, that's really cool, whatever. We're all friends. And we worked it out

I didn't leave anything out. I think that's actually pretty much spot on

the plot of Dear Evan Hansen with some poppy bops thrown in

and a song about a baseball glove
