David Hein and Irene Sankoff Perform 'Stop the World' from COME FROM AWAY

Hey everyone

Hi! Thank you. We came here last season and if any of you were here, I came out and the first thing I said is we're having a very wonderful dream

And it's continued. It's been incredible. This has been such an amazing journey

starting here with the show, this true Canadian story started here in Canada

and bringing it all over the map out to Newfoundland and then back here, of course, and then down to Broadway

And we're thrilled to be bringing a Canadian show back here to this theatre. We're so thrilled to be returning. Thanks

So we have a brand new cast starting here, but they haven't started rehearsals yet

So David and I are going to sing a song from the show. You stuck with us

Yeah, so they're using us. And this song is about our friends that we met while we were in Newfoundland over the 10th anniversary of September 11th Nick and Diane And Nick was from Texas is from Texas Diane no Nick is from England Wow it only been three years Nick is from

Let's do it again. We'll do the show here and then we'll remember. And then we'll fix it, yeah. Nick is from England, Diane is from Texas

and they were stranded together in Newfoundland for five days over September 11th, 2001

And they found themselves spending an awful lot of time together. and we just saw them a couple weekends ago in Newfoundland

and they're still the same happy, joyous people to be around. This song, Stop the World, for us is about

Nick and Diane talked about the odds of them being together on this amazing lookout when the world came together

and how they were just so fortunate for that to happen. And so for us, the song is about thinking about how crazy this all has been

And it's been really wonderful. It's been really fast. It's been, there's been so many moments

where we've been like, we just barely have a chance to enjoy this moment before we move on Like for instance everyone backstage the cast is saying you know you came for casting and then a few hours later we saw you accepting an award in New York and we like yep that how fast this world has been moving for us So once in a while we like to stop the world

Stop the world. Take a picture. Try to capture. To ensure this moment lasts
