She's just so..
0:14
She's just effortless. You know, she's beautiful, she's sexy, she's confident, she's caring, she's very kind
0:20
and she's so full of love, and she's iconic, you know? So it's really exciting to get to take that on and put myself into that
0:28
And it builds my own confidence up, which is really nice. Because that's what she's all about is you're capable of amazing things
0:35
And to get to do that with her is really, really special
0:40
The character's name is Dwayne. He's a jazz musician, which I love
0:45
I love jazz in real life. I listen to it all the time. So we connect on that moment
0:50
And I think he's also a guy that has a nostalgia for sort of like old Hollywood
0:55
So I grew up watching films from the 30s and 40s. So we share that as well. I'm really excited to, yeah, to share this character that is, that lives in
1:03
2025 New York, but, you know, is sort of like this old school Gene Kelly type flavor. Yeah
1:09
I play Grampy Boop This is my line He a he a you know he a he a he a he he a he he he he he he he he he he he he he He an inventor And he creates this machine that sends Betty into 2025 So you welcome If it not for my character there be no show
1:27
So there you have it. So that's it. And my character is an astrophysicist, Valentina
1:33
And they were there, they were like, we're going to make her that. And I go, well, you know, my dad was a nuclear engineer
1:38
So I, I kind of know that world, you know. So it was really fun to kind of create her
1:44
about her already? Well, she's smart, but she's funny, and she's in love with him
1:52
And they've been together before, but 40 years ago. So they haven't seen each other for 40 years
1:59
And so finally, when he comes back to the real world, she's his age, because she was much younger
2:06
You know, it was sort of that May December kind of thing. So, and I think this is a show for all ages
2:13
like young people, it's PG, but also other people will enjoy this, the two kind of worlds
2:23
and also the age. It has all ages. So it's pretty wonderful
2:31
I'm so excited to be here. I love basically I play myself let just be honest I on that stage and I playing me She artistic She so spunky She knows the works of New York You know she that girl Okay but she you know she got a little bit of something that everyone got
2:47
She's got a little insecure of herself. You know, she wants to be this activist, this artist when she's older
2:52
Betty Boop bought her through her hard times, you know, but now she's meeting her her idol
2:57
Like, oh my gosh, what do you do about that? It's like, it's crazy. And so, you know, Betty Boop really helps her center herself, find herself
3:03
And there's a lot of that in the show. Self-love. There's, you know, romantic love, platonic love
3:08
all that kind of stuff in the show. And I feel like that's something really special about her relationship with Trisha
3:13
is that she's like, you know, you don't have to be like this. You know, you are special and you are you
3:19
That's what's important. So that's what the theme is at the show. I'm about to play Oscar
3:25
the director of Betty Boop's shorts in the cartoon world. And what I love about him
3:33
is he, he, he, he, he's a cartoon, so he's expressing his inner emotional life in such an extreme way
3:42
And he also doesn't really know that he has emotions. And so it's doing that in this innocent, not aware way and sort of through his love of Betty Boop
3:53
discovering his own emotions. That like that really a fun journey to go on And to get to play at that level I play Carol Evans She is the campaign manager to Raymond Demeris played by Eric Bergen
4:05
And she's Trish's on and kind of DeWain's big sister caretaker. I love her because she's loving and she's a nurturer
4:11
She's a hard worker. And after she meets Betty, she's reinvigorated to live in her truth
4:17
And so I love that about her. I play Raymond Demarest, who is a candidate for mayor of New York City
4:23
who is, I keep saying, you know, isn't it funny that Betty, who's the cartoon
4:29
is the one that gives him the dose of reality? He has some schemes and plans that are perhaps not most kosher
4:37
I don't know where they got that idea from. But it's fun to play him because he's just so vile
4:45
And I have not played a lot of bad guys, so I feel this freedom to just be disgusting
4:50
What's scary is that people are really saying, you're really mad like oh god what's coming out of me uh but it's it's just fun it's just stupid
5:00
fun and it is uh he's a guy that um david and susan have written me this incredible song that feels
5:09
like an old sinatra-esque song and um we have the most fun doing it and it's just laughs and and i can't
5:16
believe this is my job
