Backstage Bite with Katie Lynch: WICKED's Ginna Claire Mason Preps for Thanksgiving!

Oh my gosh, I am over the rainbow that you are here right now

Thank you for coming to the show. Duh. How many times have you seen it? Maybe seven times

Oh, it never, ever gets old. Where are you from originally? Nashville, Tennessee

Country girl. I don't know if Glinda ever went through this, but Alphaba surely did

Went through this very awkward phase. Do you remember your most awkward phase of childhood

Someone just sent me a picture the other day of when I was in seventh grade

This is the year that I saw the original cast of Wicked on Broadway. was convinced I was gonna play Glinda like knew it was in the cards for me looking back on that

photo now I like have not great skin I have braces I was like at summer camp so my hair is greasy I'm

like super gangly like what was I thinking I mean talk about dream big girl okay we need to get down

to business though how much do you know about cooking and baking I'll be honest when I got

engaged some point in the middle of the day like broke down in tears and was like I don't know if

you want to marry me. I don't know anything about politics or taxes or cooking. That was my life

Since then, I've learned a little bit about all of them. For Thanksgiving, we are going to be

making a pumpkin bread pudding. That sounds incredible. Yay, we should get started. I'm so

ready. Okay, so when I was touring through Nashville with the show, one of my friends made

this adorable apron. It says Linda said so. I love a prop. I never turned down a prop. I thought

Maybe you should wear my apron for our cooking segment. Absolutely! You're gonna start off with six Hawaiian rolls

and you're gonna rip them apart and have nice big chunks. Glinda is an expert on being popular. Totally

If you had to sing a whole song about being an expert on something, what would that topic be

Flying turtles. What My parents manufacture a children writing toy called the flying turtle But from a young age I was trained as to how the roller racer worked how the flying turtle would move so that when vendors would stop by and ask me questions

I would know the answer. And I have yet to find one person who can beat me on the roller racer. Um, so that is

the flying turtle. We are going to now be making our filling. You need to start with one cup of pumpkin puree

Ooh, it smells so good. It really does. Now I need you to do one cup of half and half

That would be yummy. Do you know how to crack an egg with one hand

Ooh, I don't think I know how to do that. This is more nerve-wracking than a callback. Alright

Nope, not hard. Yes! Okay! Toss, toss, egg cracked. That was spectacular

It is time to mix these ingredients together. It is time to..

Mix melt! Wicked! That was the confetti. If you had to change your color for the rest of your life

what color would you want to be? Green is taken, obviously. Well, Fiero in the book is like blue and sparkly

and I feel like that would be fun, because I like to wear pink so much

So I feel like if I was pink, then I couldn't wear all my pink clothes because it would be like pink overkill

Like a bubble gown blue? Oooooh! Lots of sequins. Now it's time to make this super sweet

We're gonna start off with a third cup of stevia in the raw. Because we gotta cut our calories somewhere this Thanksgiving

It was so sweet of you to pre-measure everything for me too. Yeah

Now we need half a cup of brown sugar. I need one tablespoon of cinnamon into your bowl

Perfect. And now, one tablespoon of pumpkin spice into your bowl. I feel like cooking is more fun when you have really cute accessories

Okay, and now we need one teaspoon of vanilla. Oh. So, Elphaba has all of her flying monkeys

If you had minions to do your bidding Oh Can it be an inanimate object Absolute cupcakes I picture my cupcakes on roller skates They be really speedy They could get around really quickly

I would love my cupcakes and then sometimes I would eat them. Okay, I need you to pour your batter over your bread and really coat it

Oh, it's so creamy. It's satisfying to watch it. I know. It's melting

Glinda is such a legendary roller. What has it been like for you stepping into these shoes

Ugh, literally the shoes. Oh my goodness, the shoes, you guys. Honestly, it's been a dream come true

It was like my dream role forever. So it's been really cool getting to play the role too

in these different seasons of life. Like I started as a standby on Broadway and then I got to play the role on the road

And then get to come back and do it on Broadway feels totally full circle

So yeah, total dream come true. I'm flying high to find gravity

And to lie on bachelor's degree now. And nobody in all of us, no wizard that there is or was

is ever gonna break me down. That is perfectly coded. You're going to put it in the refrigerator to let it really set for a good hour

a little more if you have the time. Glinda arrives and leaves and makes all

for beautiful entrances and exits in a bubble. What would you choose to transport in and out

Okay, I don't know how this would work practically or for my hair anyway, but I think it would be really fun

to come by water slide. That would be amazing! Like, oh! Woo

And then when you're leaving, you step into another water slide. Yeah

Yeah, it takes you so much. Oh, it's so chilled. Oh, it's cold

Perfectly put together. I now need you to put it into a greased glass dish

The most cuddled Hawaiian bread you've ever seen. It looks beautiful and perfectly made

Now we are going to put this in the oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes

And while we do that, we're gonna get to know you more than I don't know how

but more than we already do in Quick Fire Questions. Ooh, okay. Ready

so good and it was so easy to make i know it's crazy you know what else is crazy wicked it's so

good what do you think it is about wicked that is so special i think the reason people come back

again and again is because it tells this beautiful story of friendship and overcoming all of these

odds and you know through the thick and thin of things battling it through and then at the end

coming together and affirming the relationship and yeah I think it speaks to everybody because

everybody has a friend and everybody needs a friend thank you for being a friend I think

you're amazing I think you're amazing we're amazing together she's good with the wicked
