Hello, I'm Richard Ridge for Broadway World. The hit musical Anastasia is going global and we're here at the Broadhurst Theatre where we caught up with the Four Anyas, composer Stephen Flaherty, lyricist Lynn Ahrens and producer Tom Courtey to give you a sneak peek at the global music video they are creating for the world
0:18
Well, this fall there will be four productions of Anastasia all over the world
0:24
In Germany, Spain, we'll begin our national tour and we'll be on Broadway
0:28
So this afternoon we brought all four Anastasias into the Broadhurst to sing a medley of songs from the show
0:37
And we're showing the international appeal of our show and we're so excited about what we're going to unveil to the world
0:48
What's it been like meeting them? I mean they're gonna take the role that you
0:58
created make it their own and go around the world. I know and I hope they do make
1:02
it their own I encourage them to make it their own because this character is so cool to play night after night she strong she spunky she fierce and she and she gets to go on this amazing journey and they all about to go on incredible journeys themselves
1:16
They themselves as people, as I've gotten to meet them, could not be sweeter
1:21
Nicest, most beautiful people in the world, and I'm honored to share the crown with them night after night
1:26
It's magical. I can't even put to words how magical it feels
1:32
Just every day I feel like a princess. And, like, it's just something so special
1:38
And just everyone is so nice and, like, excited to be here
1:42
because it's such a fun show and a fun group of people. So, yeah, it's a dream come true
2:02
It amazing because we all quite different but we are all playing the same role So it so nice to get to know each person and just so interesting Actually Anastasia was the first movie I ever saw in the cinema when I was four
2:27
And I got the video and the soundtrack and I always listened to it when I went to sleep when I was a little child
2:36
So it is the biggest dream that is coming true right now and it is amazing
2:41
Spain, it's been a long time since Spain hasn't had a musical like this
2:46
I think that since Beauty and the Beast And it's a musical really similar
2:51
I love Beauty and the Beast And I think that Anastasia has that essence
2:55
And that, well, not only little girls But all the people can relate to the journey that Anastasia lives in this musical
3:04
And how she fights to achieve her dreams and I think that this musical can teach a lot to young and adult people
3:14
It's thrilling for the both of us. You know, we've had tours, we've had other productions of our shows
3:20
we never had global productions simultaneously and in many different languages you know So it hard to like take it all in but it so exciting It thrilling And it feels like the show has burst open like a flower
3:36
and the seeds are going out into the world. And, you know, I feel this sort of sense of
3:41
responsibility to the world and to people, families who need to be reunited and to people who are
3:48
immigrating through the world trying to find a safe place and to find a new home
3:53
And that's what our story is about as well as being about a strong woman. And I've been thinking a lot about it and the place of the show's story in the world
4:01
And I think it is a world, a worldly story, an international story of importance
